Medicare completed my audit and found no errors — no fine, no claw back. I take this as a reflection on the excellent documentation forms you offer. Apparently your session template, and the one for writing a treatment plan—both of which I have been using for a couple of years since you taught me how to complete them, impressed the auditors favorably. I hope you take this audit result as the feather in your cap that it truly is!

The training was fantastic and I found it at a time when I started to understand that narrative case notes were inadequate to current health insurance standards. Beth helped us all relax and then walked us through a thorough case based record system that is easy to use after the training and is fully HPPA-compliant. The record docs are now at my fingertips through the encrypted cloud and I have every confidence that they will protect me from any audit in ways that make my previous session narratives look practically foolish. Thanks you again, Beth!

I want to thank you for a Sunday workshop that I was dreading. I thought it was going to be dry and boring with me feeling like I would want to leave asap. Instead, your presentation and warmth made the experience enjoyable. Hard to believe but true! I will highly recommend the workshop.

Just a quick thank you for the workshop. I am a convert to your system. I just completed an assessment aka Rontal style and am using your session notes.

I just went through a 2nd phone review with UBH. It sure made a difference feeling well versed in what they are looking for. We met criteria and got approved to continue with weekly sessions. Thank you for a wonderful group experience.

In her lucid, straightforward way, Beth helps participants translate what they do into the language of medical necessity, treatment models, goals and progress and shows how to document it all; a very worthwhile experience.

I am delighted that I no longer feel that being an intuitive, attuned therapist trained in the Internal Family Systems Model is a barrier for accomplishing this goal! This was in large part because of Beth’s ability to teach documentation skills with confidence, curiosity, compassion and a LOT of clarity! Thank you, Beth!

I have been working on developing treatment plans along with my clients during sessions and have been finding the process extremely helpful for our work. So for me the class is improving my clinical work as well as my documentation skills.

Having a relatively new private therapy practice, I wanted to make sure that the forms I use are comprehensive and thorough for documentation and insurance reimbursement purposes. The experience helped me clarify what documentation I need to include in my private practice. Our get-togethers led to many interesting and stimulating discussions, related not only to paperwork, but to clinical issues.

It is my pleasure to write this letter on behalf of Beth Rental, LICSW. On March 6, 2015, Beth was our speaker at the North Shore Medical Center Mental Health Lecture Series. Her presentation was,” Misery or Mastery: Documenting Medical Necessity”. Beth braved a long commute, with slippery road conditions and still arrived early for her talk. Despite technical difficulties, on our end, Beth proved to be a true “Documentation Wizard”. She expertly gave the entire presentation, without the benefit of her written notes!
In her presentation, Beth was able to convey practical concepts and tools that clinicians would be able to apply immediately to their psychotherapy practices. On the program evaluation forms, participants rated her presentation as excellent and very helpful for their clinical work.
Please do not hesitate to contact me for further information about this presentation on clinical documentation. If you are searching for an engaging, well-organized and knowledgeable speaker, I highly recommend that you consider Beth Rontal.

Consultation / Supervision
“Beth and I worked together for a few years before she became my clinical supervisor. As her colleague, I always respected her ability to connect with clients and reach them at a level few others could. As her supervisee, I was able to experience first-hand the expansive clinical knowledge that Beth possesses. She has considerable skills regarding a multitude of theoretical frameworks and has insight into which interventions are most likely to be effective.”
Robin Bell, LICSW
“Beth Rontal has been providing clinical supervision to me for the past 2 years. Beth has achieved the perfect balance of being challenging while nurturing. Beth has exposed me to various modalities such as energy work and Internal Family Systems. She has piqued my curiosity and provided me with many clinical tools to use in the field. I feel more confident in my clinical skills as a result of her feedback and insight. Beth has been a critical component in my development as a clinician and we were both very pleased that I recently became an LICSW. I am grateful to have a supervisor who always has a fresh perspective on clients’ issues and my own transference. We have been able to address transference openly and I am a better and more effective clinician as a result. I would highly recommend Beth to my colleagues.”

“Over the last three years in Supervision with Beth Rontal I have received support, encouragement, guidance, new knowledge and insight. The supervision I receive affects the therapy I provide to my clients by bringing new light into the therapeutic setting. Beth helps me see things in a different perspective and grow as a therapist by providing me with new techniques, skills and interventions to use with specific clients based on their individual needs. Supervision guides me toward taking additional trainings and workshops specific to the population I serve. By becoming more educated I grow as a professional. As a person, supervision reminds me that I am human and it helps keep me grounded in a potentially unpredictable and demanding field.”
“Beth Rontal is the most effective and supportive supervisor I have ever worked with. She shared her vast knowledge and experience as a guide for my work with clients through constructive feedback and suggestions. She did this in a way that also validated my assessment and opinion and supported me in developing my own style of working with clients. Beth gave me assessment tools, suggested specific interventions, modeled techniques and recommended relevant reading and training, all of which improved my skills and confidence. I found Beth’s knowledge of Internal Family Systems (IFS) work to be especially helpful. I also felt supported as a person through Beth’s supervision. She understood the impact of my personal life on me as a therapist and created space to reflect on this when needed. Beth skillfully identified possible counter transference and explored it in a non judgmental and helpful way. Beth was organized in documenting supervision hours and available for phone supervision if needed during an emergency or crisis. Beth’s enthusiasm for her work and the healing power of the relationship between client and therapist is very motivating and it made supervision with her extremely enjoyable.”
Sara Brophy, LCSW
“Beth Rontal is an eternal optimist who is able to see the good in most everything and most everyone. She has an exquisite command of therapeutic techniques, which creates hope for the hopeless. She selflessly dedicates herself as a family member, teacher, performing artist and is a genuine humanist.”
