Groups are an excellent way to end the feeling that you're all alone with your challenge. In a group, you give to and receive support from people who know your struggle. This knowing can deepen and speed up your learning and healing process.
The Lasting Weight Loss Group
Using The Tapas Acupressure Technique™
A 12-Session Group with Life-time Results
The Tapas Acupressure Technique (TAT™) was compared to two other modalities and shown to be six times more effective for lasting weight loss. (The results were published in Focus on Alternative and Complementary Therapies, 10.28-39.) TAT is a self-administered mind/body approach to restructuring the neuropathways that have been damage by repeated stress. Binge eating, overeating, yo-yo dieting and the feelings around these challenges are a tremendous sourse of stress. During this group you have the opportunity to:
- Learn the TAT and how to apply it to weight loss
- Reduce cravings and triggers
- Calm yourself and reduce stress
- Make peace with food and your body
- Stop blaming yourself for weight gain
- Heal feelings of shame, resentment, guilt and anger around food and body image issues
- Feel more joy
This group runs twice a year. Call 617.522.6611 or send us an email to find out about the next Lasting Weight Loss Group.

Bariatric Surgery Support Group
Bariatric surgery is a life-changing procedure that no one undergoes lightly. It’s not for everyone but it is right for the right people. Whether gastric bypass or lap band surgery, the initial weight loss is fast and often effortless. Trigger foods and cravings are gone. Midnight munchies vanish. Food is no longer a best friend. Years of struggle are finally over. As the pounds drop away and the body slims down, success is delicious.
Unfortunately, there are two potential problems that many people don’t consider before undergoing bariatric surgery that can poison that initial taste of success:
- the possibility of regaining the weight and
- dealing with the emotions that can no longer be stuffed away by food
After six months to two years, the ease of weight loss or “the honeymoon period” can end. Weight loss plateaus and frustration can set in if goal weight is not reached. Appetite and cravings can return. A natural desire to test the new stomach and push the limits can develop into a full blown relapse. The stomach stretches, weight is regained and the cycle of hopelessness returns. I’ve seen this happen when I worked in a bariatric surgery clinic and I see this with current clients. Don’t let this happen to you.
If you’ve had bariatric surgery and you:
- are concerned about the possibility of regaining your weight
- have already experienced weight gain after surgery
- experience unpleasant emotions you can no longer stuff with food
- would simply like the support of other people who intimately know your struggle
then individual therapy and/or a Bariatric Surgery Therapy Support Group may be right for you.
If you are interested in finding out more about support for bariatric surgery patients, please request, “20 Ways to Lose Weight and Keep It Off” and include your special interest in this group or in individual therapy. You can also give us a call at 617.522.6611 or send us an email. Bariatric Surgery Supports Groups are 10 sessions and start when there are enough people interested in participating.

Supervision & Consultation
for Professionals
For a psychotherapist, supervision is as important as continuing education. Successful supervision is multifaceted. It provides alternative ways to understand and interact with our clients’ complex problems. It keeps us alert to personal issues that can cloud our ability to remain effective and professional. It invites us to reflect on our own process and thereby provides a forum to grow as individuals.
As a clinical supervisor for a small mental health clinic in Boston, I’ve spent hundreds of hours supervising psychotherapists, both newer professionals and those with years of practice. I have experience dealing with the administrative issues of agency work as well as the documentation requirements for insurance panels. I offer individual consultations, supervision groups and in-service trainings.
Focus of Clinical Supervision:
- I integrate a psychodynamic model with attachment theory, Internal Family Systems, The Tapas Acupressure Technique, dream interpretation, neuro psychology and plain common sense
- I am well versed in trauma, anxiety disorders, bi-polar disorder, grief/loss, relationship issues and binge eating
Focus of Administrative Supervision:
- I can help you learn to develop treatment plans and write session notes that accurately reflect the best practice you deliver in a way that insurance companies understand.
- This will help you maximize the possibility of getting approval for the number of sessions you need and pass potential audits.
Recent In-service Trainings:
- Lasting Weight Loss
- Obesity, Body Image and Discrimination
- Diagnosis and Treatment of Trauma for Renal Dialysis
- Forgiveness; is it necessary to heal?
- Mindfulness and Meditation
